(BROOKVILLE, Ind.) – The man convicted of shooting his wife and a deputy in 2022 was sentenced in a Franklin County courtroom on Monday.

Gregory Cameron Guilfoyle was sentenced to 100 years in prison on several counts including two counts of Attempted Murder.

Following today’s sentencing, Franklin County Prosecutor Chris Huerkamp released police dash cam video from the officer-involved shooting that night in December 2022.

Prosecutors say Guilfoyle had shot in his wife in the head and left her out in the cold during a snowstorm.

He then started walking along State Road 1 while holding his 23-month-old daughter, when he was encountered by Franklin County Deputy Arin Bowers.

The video shows a gunfight that ensued between Guilfoyle and the deputy.  Bowers was unhurt but a bullet from Guilfoyle’s gun did strike his bulletproof vest in the chest. Guilfoyle sustained serious injuries as a result

Miraculously, the young child was uninjured. The prosecutor is praising Bowers for his actions that night:

“In an instant, Deputy Bowers was faced with an unimaginably dangerous situation involving an armed man in the midst of a violent rampage, and a child was involved. Not only did he take down the threat, he also managed to protect this child from danger against all odds,” Huerkamp said.

“His efforts to protect and continue to comfort this poor little girl were extraordinary under the circumstances. I’ve been doing this for almost 20 years and it is by far the most powerful and gripping moment I’ve ever seen captured in a police video,” he added.
