(BROOKVILLE, Ind.) – The Franklin County man accused of shooting his wife and at a deputy was sentenced on Monday afternoon.
Gregory Cameron Guilfoyle was found “Guilty But Mentally Ill” on eight separate counts in April.
A jury convicted him on two counts of Attempted Murder, as well as other charges including Neglect of a Dependent and a Firearm Enhancement.
The 812’s Shelley Hoffrogge was in the courtroom on Monday and said Guifoyle’s wife and her mother were among the victims who provided a statement during the hearing.
He was sentenced to 100 years in prison. The sentencing included 38 years on both counts of Attempted Murder, 4 years for Neglect of a Dependent and 20 years due to a firearm enhancement.
Hoffrogge said Guilfoyle did not show any emotion during the sentencing.
Guilfoyle was convicted of shooting his wife and leaving her out in the cold during a blizzard in December of 2022. She suffered severe injuries but survived.
Later that evening, Guilfoyle was walking along S.R. 1 while carrying his infant daughter. He was encountered by a deputy and a gunfight ensued. Guilfoyle suffered serious injuries and the deputy was uninjured, however a bullet struck his bulletproof vest.
The sentencing hearing was originally scheduled for earlier in the month but was delayed multiple times due to a medical emergency.
