(AMARILLO, TX) – A Texas family is asking for prayers and donations after their daughter suffered serious injuries while skiing.
10-year-old Ellie Hanes is a fifth grader who has a love for music and performing.
Her family took a vacation to Wolf Creek Ski Area in Colorado. She was skiing when she reportedly lost control, ran over a ledge and struck a tree.
She was wearing a helmet but the collision did cause a severe spinal cord injury, broken ribs and a liver laceration.
Ellie is currently in a Denver hospital and could remain hospitalized for six months to a year.
“We don’t know what her future or her recovery looks like, and likely won’t have any ideas on this until they wean her sedation, which will 100% be after surgery, whenever we can do that,” her family said.
A Go Fund Me has been launched to assist with medical expenses moving forward.
They added, “The main thing we need is prayers, pray hard for our girl, put her on every prayer chain you know. Within seconds of the accident, we had someone standing over us in prayer, and we know that God is so good.”
