Announced the closure on Thursday

(METAMORA, Ind.) – The Whitewater Canal State Historic Site has announced that it expects to close.
The Indiana State Museum and Historic Sites has decided to close the historic Metamora location, according to a Facebook post from Whitewater Canal.
Whitewater Canal officials say they plan to keep it open through this summer season.
“After exhausting all avenues to raise the funds to make essential repairs, it is no longer economically or environmentally feasible to continue to operate and manage the site,” they said.
The post did not specifically mention what this will mean long-term for the Metamora Grist Mill, the Aqueduct or other sites associated with the state designation
