Wisconsin teen takes life after being victim of sextortion

15-year-old fell victim to online blackmail scheme

(BEAVER DAM, WI.) – A Wisconsin family is hoping others learn about the dangers of sextortion after the death of their teenage son.

15-year-old Bradyn Bohn took his life earlier this month after falling victim to an online perpetrator.

Sextortion is a scheme where a person is threatened to send money or explicit photos.

"The person may claim to already have a revealing picture or video of a child that will be shared if the victim does not send more pictures," the FBI said.

The FBI says they have seen an increase in the number of cases involving teens and children.

Bohn’s mother, Brittany Bird, said he left a note that read, “make sure he gets caught.”

He was a student at DC Everest Junior High School in Weston, Wisconsin. He was a baseball player and also loved to ski.

“Bradyn was so funny and kind and had such a big heart. He was the kid who would annoy you on purpose and then make you laugh when you were trying not to. He always wanted people around him to be happy,” his family said.
