Woman accused of causing disturbance at North Vernon hospital

(NORTH VERNON, Ind.) – A woman facing numerous charges after allegedly causing a disturbance at St. Vincent Jennings Hospital.
North Vernon Police responded to the hospital and said Leighanna Williams was intoxicated.
“Williams briefly left the facility but was located by officers nearby and returned for further evaluation,” the department said.
She allegedly became combative with police before being taken into custody.
“This type of behavior creates unnecessary risk for medical staff, officers, and the public. We will continue to respond appropriately to ensure safety in our community,” said North Vernon Police Chief Ketih Messer.
Williams was charged with Public Intoxication, Disorderly Conduct, Battery on Law Enforcement Officer, and Strangulation
