(GREENSBURG, Ind.) – The Adams Township Volunteer Fire Department has received three automated external defibrillators (AEDs) from the Indiana Department of Homeland Security.
An AED is a life-saving tool that can be used when someone experiences a cardiac emergency. The portable devices are easy to use and can increase the survival rate by 40 percent.
Adams Township fire officials say the AED’s will be strategically placed to ensure accessibility during emergency responses.
“In addition, our existing AED will be relocated to the community room of the fire station, where it will be readily available for use during public events, meetings, or in the event of a medical emergency occurring within the facility,” the fire department said.
AED’s are becoming more and more common in our area.
The Greensburg Rotary Club placed four devices around the county in 2024.
Recently, every police car in Ripley and Franklin County received an AED as well.
