(BATESVILLE, Ind.) – The Batesville boys golf team are sectional champions for the first time in nearly 30 years.
The team topped Columbus North by just one stroke on Friday to earn their first sectional title since 1996.
The Bulldogs win also snapped a 7-year streak of sectional championships for Columbus North.
Batesville, Columbus North and Shelbyville are advancing to Regionals.
Greensburg’s Colten Schroeder, East Central’s Austin Makrancy and Mason Reeves of Columbus Reeves are advancing individually.
During the match, the Batesville team won “B.H.” ribbons in honor of longtime school employee Bertha Hazelwood who recently passed away.
