Batesville golfer wins IHSAA attitude award

(BATESVILLE, Ind.) -- Batesville senior John Moody has earned a major honor at the IHSAA State Golf Finals.
John Moody was the only golfer in Indiana to be awarded the Fred A. Keesling Mental Attitude Award.
Moody earned the honor for demonstrating excellence in mental attitude, scholarship, leadership, and athletic ability in boys golf.
He joins fellow Bulldog Ava South who earned the award during the IHSAA Girls Golf Finals last fall.
Jon captured the 2026 Regional Championship and earned All-Conference and All-Ripley County honors in each of his four years of competition.
A standout both on and off the course, Jon ranked third in his graduating class. He served as President of Key Club for one year, Vice President of Key Club for one year, and was a two-year member of the National Honor Society.
Outside the classroom, Jon volunteers with the Morris Volunteer Fire Department and at St. Anthony of Padua.
Jon is the son of Ryan and Mari Jo Moody of Batesville.
This fall, he will attend Indiana University to study biochemistry, with aspirations of pursuing a career as a physician.
Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance presented $1,000 to Batesville High School's general scholarship fund in the name of Jon Moody.
