Batesville officer saves life of choking man

(BATESVILLE, Ind.) – A Batesville police officer is being recognized for his lifesaving actions this summer.
Lt. Danny Hamilton was among the first responders who were dispatched to a call of a man choking and not breathing on June 26.
Hamilton was the first to arrive and found the man laying in front of a couch.
He sat the man in an upright position and performed the Heimlich Maneuver. It successfully dislodged the food he was choking on and the man was able to breathe again.
“Without the quick actions of Lt. Hamilton, it is certain that the life of a Batesville citizen would have been lost that day,” the Batesville Police Department stated.
The Batesville Police Department recognized Hamilton’s actions by awarding him the Lifesaving Award on Monday.
