Batesville teacher recognized for dual credit business classes by Ivy Tech

Former accountant and business leader now teaching

(BATESVILLE, Ind.) – Batesville High School teacher Cathy Martini is being recognized by Ivy Tech Community College of Lawrenceburg and Batesville.

Martini has earned the President’s Award for Excellence in Dual Credit Instruction.

She is a former accountant who teaches dual credit businesses classes, which can lead to a Business Administration certificate with Ivy Tech.

Principal Andy Allen says her background in business has led to a strong curriculum for students.

“Her unique perspective shapes the acumen of her students, preparing them for the professional world they will enter,” Allen said.

Martini says she is honored by the recognition and is grateful to contribute to the dual credit program at the high school.

“I’m also proud to represent BHS. Our dedicated teachers work hard every day to provide meaningful learning and experiences. While we don’t do it for the awards, hearing ‘Well done’ is appreciated and affirms the effort we put in,” Martini said.

Batesville High School and Ivy Tech’s dual credit partnership allows current BHS students to enroll in college courses within the high school, free of charge.
