Bright firefighter Kevin McKinney passes away from cancer

He was a 23-year member of the department

(BRIGHT, Ind.) – A longtime Bright firefighter has lost his battle with cancer. 

Lt. Kevin McKinney passed away from pancreatic cancer on Thursday. 

He served on the Bright Fire Department since 2001 as firefighter/EMT and served in various positions including EMS chief, captain and lieutenant. 

“He was a devoted man who gave selflessly to serve his community. Our prayers go out to his wife and 3 children,” said Bright Fire Chief Kendall Eberhart. 

The department is asking the community to support the family by making donations at First Financial Bank in Bright under Kevin McKinney’s name.
