(ATLANTA) -- An East Central senior shined while performing at a global competition in Atlanta this past weekend.
Josalyn Davidson is a member of The Children’s Theater of Cincinnati and the team was given the opportunity to compete at the Junior Theater Festival (JTF).
The JTF is the world’s biggest celebration of young people performing musical theater and there were over 7,000 young people in attendance, with 8 countries represented.
Davidson and her teammates spent many hours rehearsing before traveling to Atlanta and it all paid off.
She won the highly-prestigious All-Star Award, chosen specifically by a panel of judges, and was given access to a private dance workshop and Q&A with Broadway professionals.
“I not only got to work with them but also had some great one-on-one conversations,” Davidson recalled.
Davidson was named one of two all-stars from her Cincinnati team and was also chosen by her directors for an iTheatrics Choreography Video audition.
That audition was an opportunity to become a part of a cast of select members to work with new choreography to potentially be used in schools around the nation for upcoming musical adaptations for younger audiences.
“I'm proud to say I was part of the 3 percent of students at JTF who received a callback for this opportunity,” she said.
Davidson is hoping to hear back this Spring about the outcome of her callback and described JTF as an incredible and life-changing experience.
