(VEVAY, Ind.) – School is out for the summer but that isn’t preventing first responders from staying prepared for worst-case scenarios.
Firefighters from multiple departments attended a school rescue/ extrication class in Vevay on Saturday.
It was hosted by Switzerland County Emergency Management and the class was led by Columbus Fire Department Battalion Chief Mike Sieverding.
The mock scenario helped local firefighters learn different techniques and skills to increase the chances of a positive outcome in the real world.
“The training was very informative and very skill oriented. I would like to thank Mike Sieverding for his expertise in sharing his knowledge of auto extrication techniques,” said Switzerland County EMA Director Thomas Moore.
Some agencies that participated included Posey Township, East Enterprise, Scottsburg Fire, Madison Township, Tri-Township and Highlander Fire Protection District.
