Five arrested during Jennings Co. sex offender registry blitz

(NORTH VERNON, Ind.) – The Jennings County Sheriff’s Office conducted a Sex Offender Registry Blitz on Wednesday. 

Deputies went around the county and checked the homes of 80 registered sex offenders, to ensure they were in compliance. 

The blitz resulted in five people being arretef for Failure to Register as a Sex Offender.

They were 54-year-old Scot Smith, 37-year-old Ryan Smigelski, 51-year-old Chad Smallwood,  50-year-old Roy Field and 31-year-old Justin Owens. 

"The Sex Offender Registry is one of the most important duties of the Sheriff's Office. We take a zero tolerance approach in regards to Registry violations. This blitz was especially important as we approach the Holiday season,” said Jennings County Chief Deputy Cody Low.
