(METAMORA, Ind.) – Franklin County and Metamora officials are joining forces to focus on the future of Metamora.
Alan Stenger is the president of the Franklin County Chamber of Commerce and says this is a turning point for the town.
“Our goal is to preserve the town’s unique history while attracting new visitors, businesses, and opportunities. Together we can secure a strong future for our families and for everyone who loves this special place,” Stenger said.
A public meeting regarding stormwater and wastewater issues in Metamora will be held at 6 p.m. on Monday, September 29.
It will be held at Third Place in Metamora and residents and visitors are encouraged to attend.
A public survey has also been released which is available by clicking here:
The county and town plan to apply for a planning grant through the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs in connection to storm water and sewer-related issues.
“This initiative will help identify critical infrastructure improvements to support the town’s long-term sustainability,” Stenger added.
Those who enjoy going to the canal town should mark their calendars for Metamora Canal Days on October 3-5.
“This is about the entire county coming together to preserve our heritage and create a sustainable economic future,” Stenger added. “We invite everyone to participate in shaping the next chapter of Metamora’s story.”
