(VERSAILLES, Ind.) – A local construction worker is lucky to be alive after a scary incident in Cincinnati on April 1.
21-year-old Kaylb Lane is a Milan graduate who had been working on a job site when he accidentally fell down a 17-foot manhole.
Lane was immediately injured and stuck down there until first responders were able to pull him out.
“It was so scary, an EMT strapped me down to a table and basically lifted me up by a hydraulic crane,” he told The 812.

Lane suffered four broken vertebrae in his back and a broken foot and now faces a long road to recovery.
“An OHSA guy told me that they have dealt with a few other falls like this, and those people didn’t make it. Some of those falls were even less than how far I fell,” he said.
He has recently found out that he can’t work for at least 6 months and there is a fear he can never work in physical labor again.
A fundraiser has been established at Friendship State Bank called the "Kaylb Lane Benefit Account. You can make a donation by visiting any of the bank's branches.
"Kaylb has always been there for others, let's be there for him," organizers said.
