Fundraiser for Wendy's worker who is overcoming month-long illness

(LAWRENCEBURG, Ind.) –  A fundraiser has been launched for a local restaurant worker after dealing with a prolonged illness. 

Kelly Clark works at Wendy’s in Lawrenceburg and says he became ill for about a month-and-a-half. 

“Unfortunately, this illness set me back, and I have fallen behind on my everyday expenses, including normal bills, medicine, and hospital bills,” Clark said.

One customer said Clark treats each person who comes through the drive-thru with kindness.

"He’s the guy who remembers faces, shares a smile, and brightens people’s day without even trying," Shelly Henry said.

Henry added, "He has only been able to work three days. Because he lives paycheck to paycheck, this has left him unable to cover rent, utilities, his car payment, and other essentials."

A Go Fund Me has been created to help him get back on track financially and also with his health. 

“[The funds] will also help cover upcoming doctor visits and any new medications I may need. I am not trying to sound like a burden—this is just a difficult time, and I am doing my best to get through it,” he said.
