(NAPOLEON, Ind.) – A Ripley County couple is alive after their son-in-law rescued them from a house fire.
It occurred at the home of Tim and Janet Foster on State Road 48 in Napoleon on Friday afternoon.
A space heater sparked the fire and Tim attempted to put it out himself.
Within minutes, the fire grew throughout the house and he yelled for his wife to get out of the home, however she wasn’t able to.
Their son-in-law, Danny Horn, lives across the street and could hear the commotion along with the black smoke billowing out of the house.
Horn ran over and was able to safely remove Janet. However, Tim was still inside the home.
“I lost my breath and was ready to give up. I was leaning against a recliner when all of a sudden Danny came,” Tim recalled.
Horn bearhugged Tim and was able to drag him out of the house.
9-1-1 was called shortly after and Napoleon, Batesville, Osgood and Delaware firefighters battled the fire but it was deemed a total loss.
How to help the Foster family:
The couple lost their home and belongings in the fire and a family member has established a Benefit account where donations are being received.
The ‘Tim and Janet Foster Benefit Account’ is available by asking for it at any Civista Bank branch.
