(GREENSBURG, Ind.) – A fundraiser has been launched to help a single mom in Greensburg who is battling multiple sclerosis.
Joni Moore was diagnosed in 2009 after volunteering for two years with AmeriCorps.
She’s lived with the disease since then while working for the Decatur County Clerk’s Office and raising her daughter by herself.
“I don’t know how people can afford to become disabled. Who would have thought that I wouldn’t be able to walk at age 40 when I’ve lived a relatively healthy life,” she said.
She is now in need of a side-entry wheelchair van and needs assistance purchasing it.
“My health needs will continue to rise and produce bills I cannot afford, so if you could contribute to my independence and sustainability, I will forever be grateful for your donation,” she added.
There is no cure for multiple sclerosis, however Joni is hopeful that some sort of treatment will be effective. She is also an incredibly optimistic person.
“Not walking and financial burdens are just “minor inconveniences of life” after all, right? We are all very blessed, and please remember that when life throws you a curveball. Stay grateful,” she said.
