(GREENDALE, Ind.) – A local teenager has found a unique passion of birding and photography.
13-year-old Dylan Carr, of Greendale, picked up the hobby this past year and doesn’t have to go far to find subjects to photograph.
“My grandparents have many bird feeders in their yard which has given me great opportunities to take some photos,” Carr said.
The Greendale seventh grader says the photo he is most proud of now is of a female Cardinal that he recently took.
“The next bird I'm on the hunt for is a Ruby Throated Hummingbird because they are about to come to the area during their migration,” he told The 812.
Carr added that his favorite bird is the owl but they can be difficult to capture during the daylight.
Bird photography is a hobby that anyone at any age can do and Carr encourages others to give it a shot.
“It takes a lot of patience. I probably took more than 30 pictures to get a few great shots, so just keep at it,” he advised.
Right now, his goal is to continue improving his skills and hopes to pursue a photography scholarship for college.
