(GREENSBURG, Ind.) – A Greensburg family isn’t the type to ask for any help but are certainly in need of it right now.
Jill Pratt was diagnosed with Stage 4 neuroendocrine cancer last summer and then found out she had an inoperable brain tumor in December. She’s survived multiple strokes and is currently in a nursing home.
Her husband, John, is a longtime Greensburg history teacher and host of History In The 812.
He recalls how a local priest visited them and spoke about faith, life and fears.
The priest challenged Jill to “Never Stop Planning” and that is what the couple is focused on now.
“Jill wants to resume her cancer treatment and, more generally, she wants to start living her life again, not just survive - she wants to go to concerts, baseball games, and see friends and family,” the family said.
The family is hoping to raise funds for a wheelchair accessible van for the medical appointments and to have a sense of freedom.
“With the end goal of getting her home, this van would be the first step in making that a reality and would enable her to resume her treatment and regain the freedom she’s lost,” they said.
The family added, “While Jill’s future remains uncertain with her neuroendocrine cancer and incurable brain tumor, all we can do is make sure she can live to her fullest potential today.”
