(GREENSBURG, Ind.) – Recent Greensburg graduate Olivia Grimes is finishing her high school discus career in stellar fashion.
Grimes double-medaled in shot put and discus at the IHSAA Girls Track & Field State Championship last weekend in Indianapolis.
She was the only girls competitor from Southeast Indiana to medal in the state meet.
Because of her placement at state, Grimes qualified for the Midwest Meet of Champions (Indiana All-Stars) at Hamilton Southeastern High School in Fishers on Saturday.
Grimes competed against the top junior and senior discus throwers in the state.
She added another medal to her resume as she finished in first place during the Indiana All-Stars discus competition!
This marked the final high school discus event that Grimes will compete in and she wanted to leave it all out on the field.
“My older sister, Lily, threw for Greensburg and I know that there will be no other Grimes competing in discus at Greensburg after me. So I had to finish this off strong for my family,” she told The 812.
Olivia graduated with a 3.5 GPA and earned Welding and Construction certificates while in high school. She plans to pursue a Radiology degree from Ivy Tech.
