(INDIANAPOLIS) – The Indiana Supreme Court has denied an appeal made by a Franklin County man who shot his wife and a deputy.
34-year-old Gregor Guilfoyle was convicted of Attempted Murder and Neglect of a Dependent in April 2025. He was sentenced to 100 years in prison last May.
The conviction stemmed from a night in 2022 where he shot his wife in the head before getting into a shootout with a Franklin County deputy while he was holding his infant child. Both the wife and deputy survived.
Guilfoyle initiated an appeal last summer where the Indiana Supreme Court reduced his sentence to 80 years.
He then sought a Petition of Transfer but the high court rejected that motion.
The case is effectively finished and Guilfoyle will remain behind bars with an 80-year sentence.
Prosecutor Huerkamp, who led the prosecution team at trial, acknowledged his appreciation of Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita’s Office for its collaboration and assistance both before and after the trial and throughout the appellate process.
In Indiana, criminal appeals for individual prosecutors’ offices are handled by the Attorney General’s Office.
Guilfoyle is currently housed at the Plainfield Correctional Facility with a project release date of March 2096.
