(GREENDALE, Ind.) – A local Marine veteran has been selected as the Indiana recipient of a nationwide kindness tour.
Australian influencer Sam Weidenhofer has created the initiative “50 Veterans. 50 States. 50 Days” where he is helping certain veterans become financially secure.
Weidenhofer creates a Go Fund Me for each recipient and then shares their story with his 3 million followers on Facebook.
He chose Greendale native Franklin "Tim" Foster who joined the Marines in 1977. He later worked for nearly 50 years in construction.
Tim was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in 2024 and was forced to stop working. He reached remission last March.
He is facing another battle as his home is urgently in need of repairs including heat, plumbing, and electrical work. Tim also is needing financial support for basic needs.
“After a lifetime of serving others, working himself into the ground, and fighting cancer… Tim deserves peace. He deserves stability. He deserves to finally breathe,” Weidenhofer said.
