Lawrenceburg Tri Kappa makes 812 Day donation

(LAWRENCEBURG, Ind.) – The Pi Chapter of Tri Kappa in Lawrenceburg made a special donation on Wednesday, August 12.

The organization made a $812 donation to Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library of Dearborn County.

The $812 donation is specific to today’s date, 8/12, which is a grassroots celebration of the area code here in Southeast Indiana.

“For the women of Tri Kappa Pi Chapter, that made 812 Day a fitting opportunity to invest in an organization serving some of Dearborn County’s youngest residents,” said Tri Kappa president Sherry Nelson.

Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library mails a free, age-appropriate book every month to kids from birth to age five to promote early reading.

Locally, Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library of Dearborn County provides books to over 1,400 young children and relies on community partnerships and charitable support to help fund the program.

Laura Priebe is the director of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library of Dearborn County and describes the $812 donation as a meaningful gift.

“Tri Kappa has a long history of investing in education, families, and organizations that make our community stronger. Their gift puts books directly into the hands of Dearborn County children—and it reminds us that some of the best things happening in our community happen because neighbors choose to invest in neighbors,” Priebe said.

Tri Kappa is an Indiana philanthropic organization founded in 1901 and the Pi Chapter serves Dearborn County. The local chapter volunteers their time and raises funds to support organizations, students, and projects that strengthen the area.
