(HOLTON, Ind.) – A local church is thanking the Holton Town Board for going above and beyond.
Legacy Assembly of God is located near Versailles and suffered a pipe break during the extreme cold in late January.
“The church was completely flooded with about 1 to 3 inches of water on the ground,” said Pastor Dan May.
The congregation was displaced and were forced to find a temporary home.
Town of Holton officials not only provided the Holton Community Building but did so at no charge.
“The Town Treasurer went to the Board and they agreed that we could have it for free. It was incredibly generous and it was a great facility,” May recalled.
Services were held at the building for more than a month and the Town of Holton didn’t ask for anything in return.
“The treasurer said that when the tornado hit Holton in 2012 they received a lot of assistance from area churches, and this was one way for them to give back in our time of need,” May said.
After more than a month of renovations, Legacy Assembly of God returns to their permanent location this morning.
Legacy Assembly of God is located at 3407 U.S. 50 in Dillsboro and their Sunday service is held at 10:30 a.m.
