Hear from one volunteer here:
(LAWRENCEBURG, Ind.) – A new group provides help to family members and friends of those who pass away from suicide or overdose in Southeastern Indiana.
Loss Initiatives for Families & Friends Together (LIF²T) was launched in 2023 after the group saw that more grief support is needed in our area for those who are directly impacted by suicides or overdoses.
Research shows that people who lose someone to suicide or overdose are at a higher risk of death by suicide or overdose themselves.
The LIF²T team is trying to reduce those risks by offering immediate support, which are provided both on-scene and through follow-ups.
It’s led by trained volunteers, many of whom have lost someone to suicide or overdose themselves, and they work in partnership with One Community One Family, INcompass Healthcare, the Dearborn County Coroner’s Office and the Dearborn County Sheriff’s Office.
“The team has been working to expand in Ripley County, and are open to helping any friends or family members in need in any county in Southeastern Indiana,” said LIF²T team member Robin Kichler.
Services provided by this team are completely voluntary and at no-cost to families.

Program Coordinator Justin Rowland says this team is focused on being with individuals who are experiencing that type of grief.
“It's an honor to partner with volunteers who want nothing more than to just be a light for their community. To serve it in the best way they know how- listening, supporting, advocating, and sometimes just being present for them,” Rowland said.
