Man killed in officer-involved shooting in Rushville

(RUSHVILLE, Ind.) – A man was killed in an officer-involved shooting in Rushville on Friday night. 

Rush County deputies and Rushville Police responded to a home on East Fifth Street for a report of a domestic disturbance. 

Investigators say they arrived to find an armed man exiting the home with a woman.

“Officers responded by issuing verbal commands to the suspect; however, he did not comply,” said Indiana State Police Sgt. Scott Keegan. 

The man was shot and killed by police. The woman sustained a minor injury and was treated and released at the scene.

The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notification to the family.  

“The names of the involved officers will be released at the discretion of the Rushville Police Department and the Rush County Sheriff's Department," Keegan added. 

The Indiana State Police has been requested to investigate the incident.
