Band members take the unique trip every March

(ORLANDO) – The Milan High School Band continued their unique tradition earlier this month.
The band goes on a ‘Goodwill Tour’ every March where they visit a different state and perform music at nursing homes.
This tradition was started by Bill Schein in the 1950’s and it is led today by Band Teacher Stefani Bedel.
This year, there were 45 students and several chaperones who traveled to Orlando and the group performed at three nursing home facilities. They played patriotic melodies as well as songs from yesteryear.
The group also had the chance to visit Universal Studios and other attractions around Orlando.
“While there is always fun to be had in these trips, the real reward is giving back with these performances. The students love them,” Bedel said.
The tour went to Nashville in 2024 and to Chicago the prior year.
