(AURORA, Ind.) – Some Milan first graders brought home championship rings on Saturday!
The Milan Youth Football First Grade Team won their league’s Super Bowl after defeating East Central 24-0.
One of the key players for the Indians is Walker Ison who scored two touchdowns in the championship game!
He described the touchdowns by saying, “One of them was kinda easy but my first touchdown was kinda hard.”
Ison credited his teammates and coaches for helping secure the victory.
“We got blocking in, defense was good, offense was good, we got ourselves a couple touchdowns and all that, we got a big W,” he told The 812.
The game was held at South Dearborn and the team returned to town in celebratory fashion, as there was a parade led by the Milan Fire Department.
“We went on a ride for a parade but not with candy. It was just boys riding on the back of my daddy’s truck and then the cheerleaders rode on the back of a truck behind us,” Ison said.
Walker's dad, Rusty, is a coach on the team and said he enjoyed watching the boys celebrate their success.
“It was a great season and the kids are awesome. I grew up in the Milan Youth Football program and to come back and go through it again as a coach is pretty cool,” Rusty said.
