Owner reflects on 2025 Ripley County business boycott

(PENNTOWN, Ind.) – A Ripley County business owner is reflecting on the attempted boycott of his business last year.
The Ripley County Democrat party made a boycott list of 15 businesses that they described as "MAGA-Extremists" in 2025. The boycott list encouraged readers to avoid those businesses "like the plague."
The Ripley County Democrat Party is chaired by Victoria Martz, who is a candidate for District 55 State Representative.
One of the businesses targeted by the attempted boycott was Lawler Chiropractic in Penntown.
Owner Tim Lawler created the business in 1991 and primarily focuses on assisting truck drivers for CDL medical examinations.
Lawler was shocked when he discovered that he made a boycott list. He later realized it was a “badge of honor.”
“There are people who I later talked to who were mad they weren’t on the list. If anything, it helped our business,” Lawler said.
Tim added that it is best to pray for someone who would attack an innocent business.
“I just feel sorry for them more than anything else,” Lawler said.
Here are the other small businesses that appeared on the boycott list:
Versailles Farm & Garden
Trackside Pizza
Steiner Pines Farm
TR Tees
US Defense Solutions (Greensburg)
Ohio Valley Builders (Sunman)
Morgan Kelsey Designs (Batesville)
Billings Property Maintenance (Greensburg)
Deckplate Digital (Batesville)
Get-Dri Waterproofing
K&S Locksmith Service
Mayberry West Farms
Pollard’s Bowl
Spoda’s
