Person killed after colliding with combine in Ohio County

(BEAR BRANCH, Ind.) -- One person was killed after an accident involving a combine in Ohio County on Monday night. 

The accident occurred around 6:30 p.m. on Milton Bear Branch Road near Scholle Hill Road. 

Ohio County deputies say Vernon Smith, of Cincinnati, was driving a passenger vehicle when he struck the oncoming combine head on.

Smith was flown to a Cincinnati hospital where he passed away from his injuries. 

The driver of the combine was not hurt.
