Competition focused on agility, showmanship and obedience

(OSGOOD, Ind.) – Local teens and children had the opportunity to show off their four-legged friends during the annual Ripley County 4-H Dog Show on Saturday.
The twelve participants competed in several categories including agility, obedience, showmanship and costume.
It’s far from a walk in the park as the kids have spent several months practicing and training their dogs.
The dog show is organized by Sherry Garner and Amber Hickey and has been held at the Ripley County Fairgrounds in Osgood for the past 20 years.
“The kids really enjoy it and we really try to have fun for them. There is also an awards ceremony where we recognize our 10 year members and other participants,” said Garner.
Recent South Ripley graduate Journey Jines is one of the 10-year members and she competed with her dog, Zoey, on Saturday.
Jines says it takes quite a bit of training at home and with the club, but is well worth it.
“If someone hasn’t done this before I encourage them to try and make the most of it. You’ll meet a lot of new people and make new friends while you’re here,” Jines said.
