Police: $7M worth of cocaine seized during Indiana traffic stop

(PUTNAM CO., Ind.) – The Indiana State Police say they have made a major drug bust during a traffic stop on Saturday.

A trooper stopped a semi truck on I-70 in Putnam County for a routine inspection.

The trooper became suspicious and called for a canine who gave a positive alert on the semi, authorities said.

Police say they found 309 pounds of cocaine which has a street value of around $7 million.

Two California men, Gurpreet Singh and Jasveer Singh, were charged with Dealing Narcotics and they have each had an ICE deportation hold placed on them.

Indiana Governor Mike Braun is reacting to the bust by saying Indiana has zero tolerance for drug traffickers.

“Through coordinated efforts with federal and local partners, the Indiana State Police are proactively stopping dangerous drugs from entering our communities and harming Hoosier families. I made public safety a priority for my administration on day one and I commend our State Troopers for their hard work keeping Hoosiers safe,” Braun said.

Authorities added that the semi tractor-trailer was enroute from Missouri to Richmond, Indiana.
