(WASHINGTON, D.C.) – The House of Representatives nearly had a unanimous vote on Tuesday to force the Department of Justice to release files related to Jeffrey Epstein.
The House passed the Epstein Transparency Act with a vote of 427 to 1. The lone "no" vote was a congressman from Louisiana.
Rep. Erin Houchin (R-District 9) was among those who voted in favor of the release. She says she has always supported full transparency when it comes to the Epstein files.
“Before my time in Congress, I served as a case manager in child protective services and worked closely with victims of abuse. I have seen the trauma these children endure, and my focus has always been on protecting victims and holding predators fully accountable,” Rep. Houchin said.
She added that anyone involved in the crimes should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law and the victims deserve justice.
“As these files are released, every victim must know that their safety and dignity come first and that their government is committed to protecting them, not the people who abused them,” she said.
The bill now heads to the Senate and if approved will head to the White House, where President Donald Trump recently said that he will sign it.
