Ripley Co. snow plows ready for winter weather

ree

(VERSAILLES, Ind.) – The Ripley County Highway Department is ready and prepared for the winter weather.

A winter system is expected to move into the area Monday night and could lead to 1 to 4 inches of snowfall.

Snow plow drivers in Ripley County plan to hit the road as soon as the snow stops.

“It does no good for trucks to plow snow while it is snowing,” Ripley County Highway Supervisor Jason Edwards said.

The highway department has 16 drivers and two graders who are ready to cover more than 700 miles of roads in the county.

Meanwhile, pretreating has taken place on both county and state roads.

Edwards added he will monitor conditions throughout the evening and will make the call to dispatch snow plows as soon as it makes sense.

Meanwhile, INDOT crews will operate under a district-wide full call out and will plow the roadways until cleanup operations are complete.

“Please be patient with us and give the drivers plenty of room,” Edwards mentioned.

Southeast Indiana will be under a Winter Weather Advisory from 7 p.m. Monday through 7 a.m. Tuesday.
