(BATESVILLE, Ind.) – Funeral services have been announced for a longtime teacher who unexpectedly passed away last week.
55-year-old Steve Coffman suffered a cardiac emergency at Harrison High School on Thursday.
Coffman was a math teacher and beloved coach who worked at Southwest Local Schools since 2004.
He was immensely involved with East Central athletics where he was a head softball coach, golf coach, assistant basketball coach and worked the clock at East Central football games and kept the score book at basketball games.
He had also served as a basketball coach at South Dearborn as well as Harrison.
“Steve had a faith that never wavered and it shined like a bright light through all interactions. He cared deeply about the futures of each and every student and player that he encountered,” his family said.
The visitation will be held at Weigel Funeral Home in Batesville from 3-7 p.m. on Thursday, May 7.
The funeral will be held at All Saints Parish - St. Joseph’s Campus in St. Leon at 10 a.m. Friday.
Coffman is survived by his wife, Diana, daughters Anna and Alexa, his father, and many other relatives and friends.
“The most important thing in Steve’s life was his family. Anyone that knows him, knows that he abundantly loved his three girls and was a fierce protector of them,” his family said.
