South Ripley students rally behind classmate whose mom has cancer

Students promoting benefit on May 17

(VERSAILLES, Ind.) – An upcoming benefit ride and cornhole competition will benefit a Ripley County mother who is battling brain cancer.
Abby Dicken is the mom of a South Ripley freshman and his classmates are hoping for a big turnout.
“He is a really good kid and we are trying to get his family as much support as possible," said sophomore Sophie Lauber.
Lauber reached out to The 812 on her own in an effort to promote this benefit for her classmate.
The benefit for Dicken will take place at the New Marion Fire House in Holton on Saturday, May 17.
The jeep ride will have registration beginning at 8:30 a.m. and it will take off at 11 a.m. from the fire station.
A meal will be held between 1-3 p.m. and cornhole signups start at 2 p.m.
It will also include a bake sale, silent auction and split the pot.
