The 812's Ellie Acra graduates from prestigious Lugar Series program

"A reminder that each of us can make an impact"

(INDIANAPOLIS) – Greensburg native Ellie Acra graduated from the prestigious Lugar Series program on Tuesday.

She was one of 20 women in Indiana selected to be part of the program that aims to develop future political leaders.

Acra said the Lugar Series is a reminder that we can each make an impact, no matter how big or small.

Look around you, see the needs of your community, and use your skills and talents to fill the gap,” she said. “If your mission is to serve others and leave somewhere better than you found it, the right opportunities will continue to come your way.”

She is also thanking the City of Greensburg as well as Decatur County Prosecutor Nate Harter for helping guide her along the way.

Acra graduated from Greensburg High School in 2020 and Purdue University in 2024.

Ellie has also served as a reporter and contributor for The 812 since 2022.

She recently launched the Facebook page “Ellie’s Angle” where she breaks down news and events from the federal government in a nonpartisan, easy-to-understand way.

Acra currently works for the public relations firm BAR Communications in Indianapolis.
