(RAINIER, WA.) – Two Batesville graduates recently took up a monumental task at Mount Rainier in Washington.
Michael Lanning and David Hortemiller set out with the goal of hiking the 93-mile Wonderland Trail in three days.
The Wonderland Trail encircles Mount Rainier with about 27,000 feet of elevation gain and 27,000 feet of elevation loss.
“No small task, even on flat ground not to mention the 30 pounds of pack on our backs and the higher elevation for a trio of unacclimated Indiana men,” Lanning recalled.
