Two evacuation shelters available in Metamora

(METAMORA, Ind.) – Do you live in Franklin County and need somewhere to spend the night?
There are two evacuation shelters that will be open this evening.
The Whitewater River is expected to rise above its 17-foot flood stage and could reach approximately 23 feet by 2 a.m. Thursday.
Officials are urging people in Metamora, Cedar Grove and other low-lying areas along the river to evacuate and find higher ground.
The Metamora Community Center will be offering shelter and is located at 19162 U.S. Highway 52 in Metamora.
Metamora Church of God is offering their building as an evacuation shelter.
The church has cots, space, and are ready to welcome anyone who needs a safe place to go. Please bring pillows and blankets for you and others.
Metamora Church of God is located at 20146 U.S. 52 in Laurel.
