(VERONA, KY) – A police officer in Northern Kentucky had an extremely close call during a traffic stop on Friday night.
Boone County Deputy Jacob Southworth had stopped a vehicle on I-71 near Verona.
During the traffic stop, a white utility truck passed by and the mirror of the vehicle struck Southworth, police said.
He was taken to a local hospital for an arm injury and has since been released.
Boone County deputies say the truck did not stop and continued to drive south on I-71 toward Gallatin County.
“The suspect vehicle is believed to be a white GMC or Chevrolet commercial utility truck with an unknown logo on the passenger side door,” sad Boone County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Philip Ridgell.
Anyone with information that could assist in identifying the suspect is asked to contact the Boone County Sheriff's Office. Tips may be received via email crime@boonecountyky.org or by phone at 859-371-1234.
