Remains in original condition since 1904

(OCALA, FL.) – A vehicle that is on display at a drag racing museum in Florida was built in Decatur County.
Greensburg resident Ira J. Hollensbe built this one-of-a-kind vehicle in 1904.
Everything was handmade except the wheels, engine and transmission.
Hollensbe drove the vehicle to the Indy 500 in 1911 and the car drew quite a bit of attention.
However, Hollensbe never built another car and this vehicle has the serial number of “1” and is the only one of its kind.
He later sold the car to the Kanouse brothers of Indiana and it was eventually donated to the museum by George Albright III.
It has been on display at the Don Garlits Drag Racing Museum in Ocala, Florida since 2007.
The vehicle remains in its original condition and is recognized for being an integral part of automobile history.
