Viral Fayette Co. candidate loses election bid

(CONNERSVILLE, Ind.) – The Fayette County candidate who made national headlines has lost her election.

Jamie West is a democrat who was running for the County Council District 4 seat against republican Gary Keener, Jr.

She lost the race by 60% as she received 297 votes compared to Keener, Jr. who received 1,203.

West garnered national attention after a candidate forum that was televised on Connersville TV3 earlier this month.

She appeared to be slurring her words and made controversial remarks that included that she would “fire all Republicans” and said “We have guns too.”

The interview was featured on national outlets including Fox News, USA Today and TMZ.

West made a guest appearance on the Piers Morgan Show and admitted that she had drank a few beers before the interview.

“[I wasn’t] that intoxicated but know what I’m talking about when it comes to Indiana politics,” West told Piers Morgan.
