(GREENSBURG, Ind.) – Volunteers and food donations are being requested ahead of the opening of a Warming Center in Decatur County.
Officials will open the Warming Center if temperatures get into the single digits or if there is a wind chill advisory. No set time has been announced.
It will be located at the Decatur County Health Department and will serve as a no-cost, no-questions asked location.
They are requesting volunteers to assist guests who arrive.
“We are scheduling in shifts of 4-hour increments, around the clock for a few days,” organizers said.
They are also accepting donations of fully prepared meals or single-serve items that can be heated up. Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be served.
The number to call to volunteer your time or donate food is (812) 570-8005 for the Township Trustee or (812) 663-8301 for the Decatur County Health Department.
