Franklin County animal shelter evacuating Wednesday

(BROOKVILLE, Ind.) – The animal shelter in Franklin County is beginning to evacuate due to the rising Whitewater River. 

They are removing all animals from the property and seeking temporary foster families. 

The evacuation from the shelter at 9076 Landfill Road in Metamora is beginning at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday. 

“We are getting a high volume of messages and are not able to answer everyone, so if you’re able to help just show up at 5:30 and see what we have,” the shelter said.

The Whitewater River is expected to rise above its 17-foot flood stage and could reach approximately 23 feet overnight.
